Adventure Under Sail is a charity for developing the life skills of young people using the sail training ship TS Pelican, based in Weymouth, Dorset. Sail training is an adventure activity for people of all ages, but the charitable side of our work focuses on youth development in individuals aged between15-25. It includes instruction in all aspects of sailing but the benefits to the individual go far beyond this. Sail training uses the experience of being at sea principally as a means to help young people learn about themselves, discover hidden strengths, talents, and develop confidence as well as understanding the value of working as a team. TS Pelican is an award winning sail training ship and along with Adventure Under Sail have recently started a campaign to make schools more aware of the opportunities that sail training ships such as the TS Pelican offer students and schools. We are able to provide an activity based learning experience as well as an outdoor classroom able to offer aspects of the national curriculum programme.
