Advocates for Inclusive Education (AFIE) is a parent led group formed to increase opportunities for successful inclusion of children with disabilities in regular education classrooms. As parents, we recognize and appreciate the efforts of educators in working towards positive outcomes from our children. However, despite the research indicating the significant benefits of inclusion practices, the successful implementation of inclusion around the country and the requirements set forth by IDEA, the inclusion practices in North Carolina are lagging.
