Aerial Agriculture LLC, founded in March of 2015, designs, builds, and pilots Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), or "drones", in-house to collect multi-spectral images of entire crop fields. These spectral images can be processed into a single map of various agricultural indices, the most common of which is Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) which is an accurate representation of crop health throughout the field. An NDVI map enables precision agriculture strategies, allowing a farmer to reduce input costs while simultaneously increasing yields through variable rate application.Aerial Agriculture was founded in March of 2015 by Purdue Engineers with a vision to integrate drones into the agriculture industry.
