The Savage Geckos concept was created by Bruce McCulloch Jones and his (video game enthusiast) sons Alex, Ben and Ted in 2004. The first retail store / LAN Gaming Center opened in 2005 in Milford, Michigan. The second location opened in 2006 on the campus of Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan. It holds the record as being the first LAN Gaming Center on a College Campus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lan_gaming_center) The company went on to install gaming centers or equipment in 20+ Universities. Including Eastern Michigan University, University of Michigan, Oakland University, University of Illinois and the Illinois Institute of Technology. Of note is is the historically accurate installation in the historic University of Michigan Union Billiards and Game Room (http://uunions.umich.edu/billiards/). It was these Savage Geckos centers that hosted the first intercollegiate video game competitions. Savage Geckos is no longer operating but holds a number of record "Firsts". > First gaming center on a college campus > First intercollegiate gaming competitions > First intercampus video game competitions > First intracampus video game competitions
