Winners of the NIBS 2020 Worldwide Business Plan Competition. • Within the glasses industry, comfort for the wearer comes at a cost of product robustness.• Glasses have been made more comfortable thanks to the introduction of the "flexi-hinge". This hinge allows the arms of the glasses to extend outwards from the sides of the wearer's head. However, glasses containing this technology are usually more expensive than glasses with normal hinges. Additionally, these hinges are vulnerable to breaking, and are irreparable when they do, meaning the customer must buy a new pair. The Market• Over 43 million adults in the UK and Ireland wear glasses. Worldwide, 64% of adults that require vision correction wear glasses.• The eyewear market within the UK and Ireland is currently worth €5.475 billion and is set to have a growth rate of 7% for 2020-2025.• The threat of new entrants is very low, as companies have found it difficult to come up with innovative ways to differ themselves from competitors. Our Solution • At Affixt Ltd. we have come up with a simple yet effective solution to the problem of today's fragile and expensive eyewear.• We have taken the mechanics within the current flexi-hinge and adapted it so that it can be removed and inserted into our glasses frames. This will allow the consumer to easily fix their broken glasses by removing the broken hinge and inserting a new one. This eliminates the need for the individual to purchase a new pair of glasses, saving them money. • We're looking at targeting three main groups of consumers:o Frustrated consumers who're tired of having to buy a new pair of glasses when they break theirs.o Financially conscious consumers who value the long-term investment and value for money in the purchasing our glasses.o And the environmentally conscious consumer who sees the benefit to the environment in purchasing our repairable, separable glasses.
