Africa is entering a new phase in its socio-political and economic interaction with Asia, particularly China. The advent of China and its advancement of Belt Road Initiative (BRI) will see it extending interaction with Africa to unprecedented levels. BRI is a global development strategy adopted by China aimed at infrastructural development and investments in 152 countries and in international organizations in Asia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and the Americas. There are a number of media, academic and intellectual platforms reporting on Asia in Africa. Various Asian governments sponsor most of these platforms, each wanting to promote its own political agenda and foreign policy. AFRASID is an independent organisation that provides a platform for non-aligned news dissemination and collaboration between continents.
