My name is Teresa Brooks CEO and founder of Africa Movement a non profit in Spokane Washington focusing on Self Sustainable Community Development. Developing community from the ground up by partnering with organizations to provide communities with means of one hundred per cent self sustainablity. Projects such a Spokane Hoopfest 10 week pilot, the goal is to implement the same plan of the original Spokane Hoopfest of 1995 on the streets of Aberdeen, Freetown. Creating sporting events such as Hoopfest will allow communities such as Aberdeen to develop quality free education, technology, water, electricity, agribusiness, sanitation and various sector which create strain on the development process of Sierra Leone. After working with Plan International and Save the Children in Sierra Leone, West Africa spent six months studying self sustainablity with Or Movement in Beer Sheva Israel. Africa Movement in currently raising money to develop communities such as Aberdeen located in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Land for development within Aberdeen would allocated to orphans and homeless children. The community members specializing in early childhood and youth development. Schools, play area's, recreational centers, computer labs, athletic facilities, are all needed in Aberdeen community. Freetown Hoopfest intent is to support expenses to develop, equip, maintain, design, or improve essential community-based "tournament quality" sport facilities in the greater Sierra Leone communities. Educated and healthy children will lead their communities out of poverty. An important step in achieving this is ensuring that all populations have access to quality schooling regardless of personal income.
