The mission of the African American Performing Arts Community Theatre (AAPACT) is to create opportunities for local African American and Hispanic actors to gain access to better performance experiences, theatrical awareness and stage education by means of offering workshops, introduction to new theatrical works and main stage performance opportunities. AAPACT has served the impoverished community of Miami-Dade County's Liberty City since its inception in 2001, with 3 to 4 professional stage productions each season. AAPACT has served inner-city youth by offering workshops and classes in theatre stage craft, acting and writing. The company has exposed under-privileged children and adults with the writings of August Wilson, Ed Bullins and Celeste Bedford Walker by providing free admission to 50 families per each performance, offered theatrical awareness workshops at neighboring Miami-Dade County Public Elementary and Middle Schools and hosted free classes for children and adults in the art of acting and stagecraft. AAPACT has mentored theatre technical and performance students by exposing them to the theatre accepting young interns that perform, design, create and work as technical stagehands for all theatre projects. AAPACT has a staff of (9) nine individuals which consist of an Artistic Director, Set Designer and Builder, Costume Designer, House and Box Office Manager, Marketing Coordinator, Quality Assurance Specialist, Publicity Designer, Photographer and Videographer. AAPACT was incorporated in the State of Florida in 2001.
