African Community for Technology and Education (ACTE) Details
ACTE's mission to integrate ICT in education falls into four main categories: Infrastructure, Training, Content Development, and Community Involvement.Infrastructure DevelopmentIt is oftentimes necessary to build adequate physical spaces and/or bring technological support to the environment that we would like to impact. Our main infrastructure piece is the "Center of Excellence". It is a technology lab that serves as a gateway to free academic services, content development, and activities that ACTE offers to schools and the community-at-large. Trainings and SeminarsACTE makes a wide array of technologies and educational resources available to teachers and students. And we want to make sure they know how to use them, and how to use them effectively. ACTE creates and manages training programs and seminars that highlight hardware and software skill development. Online Environments and ResourcesACTE is active in creating educational content and online resources that African students and teachers respond to, i.e. educational content and applications that speak to their own unique curricula, education systems, ways of teaching and learning, and includes their own cultural values. Community Outreach We aim to put the importance of science, math, and technology on center stage, and to do that, we create activities and clubs that take our mission outside of our ‘Centers of Excellence'
