The African Movie Festival in Manitoba (AM-FM) celebrates "African" filmsand promotes the growing linkages between Manitoba, Canada and Africa.AM-FM is a creation of the Manitoba African Film Festival Inc., a local nonprofit founded by Dr. Ben Akoh. The festival is set up to leverage the growing collaboration between African and Canadian filmmakers. It is held annually in March/April/May in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The festival is founded on three pillars. The first pillar provides anincredible screening experience of recent and classic African films andInternational films on Africa by Africans. The second pillar provides a platform for dialogue on Afro-Canadian cross-cultural and multicultural issues through academic symposia, talk shows, interviews, and performance art. The third pillar provides an excellent masterclass on film making to young Canadian African Filmmakers.
