Afrofest is a new annual music, dance and cultural festival, that seeks to celebrate African culture within the Sheffield region and aims to bring together many people of different backgrounds. The main purpose to bring this festival to Sheffield, is to have something new and exciting to the people of Sheffield. There is a strong presence of many African cultural communities. Sheffield has become a multi cultural city in recent years. In its maiden year, Sheffield Afrofest, brings over 50 different artists from Africa as well as local and national artist. Countries that are represented this year are, Ethiopia,Uganda, Senegal,United Kingdom, Angola, Democratic republic of Congo and Zimbabwe. With over 10, 000 people expected to attend over the spring bank holiday weekend festival. Sheffield Afrofest will showcase a rich and diverse African culture over a number of venues across Sheffield. Food and stalls from charity organizations and children activities will also be available for families. Afrofest welcomes people of all ethnicities and communities and it also chance to discover African culture in Sheffield.
