On the supply side, U.S. agricultural crop production has been based on a planning-to-plate process to meet demand estimates for the coming year that is a direct function of available arable land sufficient for food production. To meet the demand for a sustainable and healthy food supply over time will take an approach that currently does not exist.The problem has become more complex due to COVID 19, and the escalating need to access a sustainable food supply with healthy and organic options. Coupled with the COVID-related issue is the impact on sustaining a healthy, viable food supply chain which has been exacerbated, putting additional constraints on the integrity of U.S. agriculture to meet demand in an ever-changing global climate.
