Established in 1994, we are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, managed by an all-volunteer board of directors, and comprised of design professionals workingas sole proprietors, principals, educators, and as designers in firms or associations.We are a professional organization that sustains a diverse community that shares a passion for design. We seek to inspire, support, educate, and empower anyone engaged in design.AIGA NationalFounded in 1914 as the American Institute of Graphic Arts, AIGA remains the oldest and largest professional membership organization for design and is now known simply as "AIGA, the professional association for design."AIGA believes designers serve a critical role as communicators, educators and innovators. AIGA sets the national agenda for the role of design in economic, social, political, cultural and creative contexts. AIGA now represents more than 25,000 designers through national activities and local programs developed by 69 chapters and 240 student groups.AIGA advances design as a professional craft, strategic advantage and vital cultural force. As the largest community of design advocates, we bring together practitioners, enthusiasts, and patrons to amplify the voice of design and create the vision for a collective future. We define global standards and ethical practices, guide design education, enhance professional development, and make powerful tools and resources accessible to all.
