Our non-governmental organization was created in July, 2019, due to a high amount of families living in poverty situations in our community (Recife-PE, Brazil). It is common here to encounter many homeless people on the streets in our way to school, work, home, etc. Social inequality and government neglect is present in every part of our community, and that is why we had to start taking action. We are students from Colégio de Aplicação da UFPE and Universidade Federal de Pernambuco who decided to start speaking up about this issue at our schools. Our organization is composed by students who, through our activities, learn more, everyday, about activism, the importance of making good impact in our communities, and how to be a young leader who cares about global issues. Every week we distribute food and clothing for the homeless in our city and interview other NGOs in our area in order to promote them on our Instagram page (@aindahaesperancaahe). We understand that, by promoting these other NGOs with the influence we have on social media, we are able to bring them more volunteers, help and increase youth leadership in our city.
