Apparel & Fashion - Smithtown, New York, United States
Fashion designed to manipulate. Accessible adjustable androgyny: aj saunders relies on the deconstruction of the gender binary. Focusing on trans/fluid/queer individuals, my brand considers the struggle to cope with the phenomenon of body dysphoria, due to an excess or lack of body parts. 3D printed prosthetics are incorporated into clothing to reinvent existing devices, such as dildos, packers, chest binders, and give a certain weight & shape to the body to satisfy both visual and sensual expectations. Experimentation of one's gender becomes accessible through these objects, simultaneous with their function as desired fashion accessories. Influences of drag, DIY punk, and exaggeration of size become manipulative elements in giving a sense of control over the body one's given to become whoever they want to be.
