AKATIGA Center for Social Analysis is an independent and non-profit organization with three core activities: research, advocacy, monitoring and evaluation.Our mission is to influence positive policy changes in order to create a fair social, political, and economic environment that would enable the poor and marginalized groups to acquire greater access to and control over resources for sustainable livelihood. In achieving our mission, we focuses on three core activities: research, advocacy and monitoring and evaluation in four priority issues which include Micro, Small, and Medium Entreprises (MSMEs), governance, labour, and agrarian. These focuses are situated in the context and dynamic of development, poverty, and marginalized groups in rural and urban areas. Our research employs qualitative, quantitative, mixed methods and critical analysis to produce solid and robust research output. AKATIGA's research has been translated into numerous of report, book journal, paper work, policy papers, and popular writings in national and international media and journal. But our work does not end with publication. AKATIGA translates its works on policy advocacy in a range of development issues. AKATIGA collaborates with civil society organizations to advocate evidence-based policy change as well as working directly with local and national government agencies. Our team consist of reseachers trained in the disciplines of anthropology, sociology, economic, regional and urban planning, public policy, and social welfare. The variety of academic background allows us to develop and conduct high-quality research with more nuanced perspective. In the last four years, we work with a number of international agencies including The World Bank, DFAT Australia, Plan International, RAND Corporation, ILO, TPSA and SSHRC Canada.
