Non-Profit - Montgomery, AL, US
The mission of the Alabama Civil Justice Foundation is to assist in "removing barriers to a civil and just society for Alabama children, families and seniors," and we accomplish this through statewide grantmaking to support nonprofits assisting disadvantaged families and children. Participants in the Alabama Civil Justice Foundation believe that civil justice embodies the opportunity for all citizens to have adequate food and shelter, good health care, a safe environment in which to live and work, a sense of well-being, a quality education, and the chance to work and earn a living. The Foundation is supported by Alabama's legal community as a charitable philanthropy committed to the vision of civil justice. Founded in 1993 by the Alabama Association of Justice (formerly the Alabama Trial Lawyers Association), ACJF was authorized as an Interest on Lawyers Trust Account (IOLTA) program. Funds from the IOLTA program as well as from donations have allowed the Foundation to award almost $9 million to nonprofit organizations statewide. ACJF has awarded grants in all 67 counties of the state.
