Introducing the ALAFLEX system, a new way of bandaging the tricky axillary (under arm) wounds. Medical dressings have always been flat and formulaic. But who says bandages have to be 2D, when we live in a 3D world?Although the Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS) patient population has been trending steadily upwards into the millions each year, there was no ideal dressing for the axilla, until now.ALAFLEX Design is a startup founded by an interdisciplinary team of medical and industrial design students from Thomas Jefferson University, home of the Sidney Kimmel Medical College and Philadelphia University. Through the JeffSolves MedTECH 2017 immersive accelerator program, a collaboration between JeffDESIGN and New Lab's 10XBeta, student inventors researched and developed innovative healthcare products and medical devices.
