Non-profits & Non-profit Services - Anchorage, Alaska, United States
The remote regions of South Sudan are among the most impoverished, least developed areas of the world, with some of the worst and most alarming health statistics on the planet. South Sudan has the highest maternal mortality rate in the world. In Jonglei State where the Alaska Sudan Medical Project is working, children die needlessly of disease and malnutrition. \\With the mission of 'saving lives through health, water and agriculture,' the Alaska Sudan Medical Project is offering new hope.\\ASMP is a grass-roots, non-profit that provides clean water, health clinics and upstart agriculture support in Old Fangak, South Sudan. By helping locals address these urgent challenges, ASMP is tacking the problems of disease and food insecurity, countering the injustice caused by 40 years of civil war.\\Our work allows the South Sudanese people a chance to not only survive, but to have hope of a better tomorrow.
