BOCES, or Board of Cooperative Educational Services, offer careertraining and educational programs throughout New York State.The BOCES Center in Albany offers academics for those who wish to pursuea career in practical nursing, also known as licensed vocational nursing.In this program students receive hands-on training and clinicalexperience at health care facilities throughout the area,Albany BOCES has transfer agreements with several nearby colleges forthose students who wish to continue with or enhance their nursingstudies. These transfer agreements will help facilitate an easy andseamless transfer without loss of credits for those who graduate fromAlbany BOCES.Some of the schools with which the Center has agreements are SchenectadyCounty Community College and Hudson Valley Community College.The Practical Nursing program at Albany BOCES takes approximately one totwo years to complete. Students who graduate from the program often go onto work in hospitals, doctor’s offices, retirement and nursing homes andhome health care.Qualifying students may receive need-based grants, loans and other formsof federal and private financial aid to help cover the cost of tuition.
