AlchiMedics is a specialist in the coating of implantable medical devices via electro-grafting: this technology creates organic brushes in the 20-500 nm range made of vinylic polymers. Electro-grafted coatings impart tailored properties to the coated object ranging from specific surface energy, corrosion protection, barrier properties, biocompatibility, promotion of cell attachment and proliferation or accelerated healing. Coatings obtained via electro-grafting have been implanted in humans since 2007, on drug eluting stents. Today, nearly 1 million patients (and growing) bear a vascular implant showing superior safety profile thanks to this technology.
