Healthcare Facility/Healthcare Services - New York, NY, US
The Alcoholism Council of New York is a non-profit prevention organization dealing with the treatable disease of alcoholism and substance abuse. We believe it is easier to raise a strong child than fix a broken adult, and that we can change the culture of shame associated with addiction as an illness. By working with communities and schools we can, through outreach and education, empower people to become the change they want to see. We provide counseling, education materials and referrals for clinical services. We do not provide treatment, but we are committed to giving what assistance we can to ANYONE in need of help with alcohol addiction and/or substance abuse. We provide Drinking Driver education programs for the Department of Motor Vehicles and training for counselors acquiring Certified Alcohol & Substance Abuse Counselor credentials (CASAC) for the NYS Office of Alcohol & Substance Abuse Services (OASAS).
