Hospitality - Alert Bay, British Columbia, Canada
The setting for Alert Bay Lodge is the remote coastal wilderness that encompasses Johnstone Strait, a deep and narrow glacier-carved passage between the north-east coast of Vancouver Island and the BC mainland. Nestled on one wooded acre on the south shore of Cormorant Island (a Northern Gulf Island) the lodge offers panoramic views of Johnstone Strait and Vancouver Island Mountain Range. Cedar lodge in construction with 14' arched ceilings, Alert Bay Lodge was originally constructed as a church. To this day the lodge remains an important part of the community. It is used by healing circles, as accommodation for potlatches and small community meetings. Local artesian work is on display in a large glass case. First Nations art adorns our walls. People stay with us to see whales, grizzly bears and experience the authentic culture of the remote coastal community that is Alert Bay. We are the booking agent for numerous tours and would be pleased to assist you with advice and excursion reservations. Four rooms are available for guests. All rooms have private bathrooms, mini-fridges and a view of either the forest or ocean. There are no telephones or televisions in the rooms. Free Wi-Fi service is available from all points in the lodge. Our library is well stocked with the classics, escapism and children's books. Alert Bay Lodge is Destination BC approved.A central feature of Alert Bay Lodge is our 1400 sq. ft. common room.
