Alexander Joseph was created following a frustrating and fruitless search for cordless lamps by one of the founders. Mark & Claire moved to an oak framed house in 2017. Some areas were open plan, other rooms were large and didn't lend themselves to placing furniture against walls. Taking the oak floor up to install electrical points just wasn't going to happen, so cordless lighting was the only practical solution, and therein lay a problem.We are proud to claim our lamps are completely hand made in Britain and are of exceptional quality. Lamp bodies are ‘oversized' hand-blown glass & hand-made ceramics. Our Initial range of 54 will increase to 200 lamps over the next year. In addition to conventional lamp colours we have some vibrant choices such as Mustard & Aubergine. We regularly create spectacular one-off pieces & welcome commissions.Batteries, electronics, drivers and unique LED control circuitry are all hidden in the sealed base of a lamp. Collectively the elements offer a step change in lamp endurance, making a cordless proposition viable. Lamps offer at least 52 hours of continuous use at full power before recharging, put another way, three to four weeks of normal evening use. Our products come with a no quibble warranty and are the first anywhere in the world able to meet the compliance requirements for the global domestic market. We only sell products direct to home owners via our website at fixed RRP prices. Our preferred route to market is via Indirect sales channels, such as interior designers, hotel & restaurants, luxury boat builders, architects and luxury interiors retailers.
