Farming - Mymensingh, Dhaka Division, Bangladesh
Rice production is a combination of versatile works done by different working-classes. It is a huge job. And this is what our peasant brothers do in different ways. However, almost all the works associated with rice production are still done in the traditional/ancient method. Every stage of rice production (from land preparation to crop cutting to housing) is extremely laborious, time-consuming and expensive. In this age of twenty first century of science and technology, we are still far behind. Rice is not only the staple food of our country, but also it is considered the staple food of many other countries of the world. Almost all of these other countries are using modern technology in every stages of rice production. Our farmers also lose their crops in the stage of production and processing. In Bangladesh, this loss is 12 to 15 percent which is higher than most other countries in the world. If machine is used only in harvesting, the amount of this loss comes down to less than 2 percent.According to Bangladesh Rice Research Institute's agriculture engineers, if it is possible to cut crops mechanically, the farmers' rice is saved upto 8,45,000 metric tons a year. In one study it is found that the country's annual crop was ruined by 30,000 crore taka due to lack of planned crop harvesting. On the other hand, due to shortage of labor in agriculture, farmers neither plant nor harvest the crops at the right time. ALFA (BD) AGRO SERVICES was established on such realities. The primary goal of which is increasing the overall production of rice by ensuring the use of modern machinery technology at every stage of rice/paddy production and to ensure the food security of Bangladesh, to create the golden Bengal.
