Hospital & Health Care - Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom
The All Wales Therapeutics and Toxicology Centre (AWTTC) is an NHS Wales organisation that provides support to the All Wales Medicines Strategy Group (AWMSG) and its subgroups, the New Medicines Group (NMG) and the All Wales Prescribing Advisory Group (AWPAG). AWMSG advises Welsh Government about the use, management and prescribing of medicines in Wales.AWTTC's horizon scanning team gathers information about new ‘pipeline' medicines, indications and formulations that are in development and are expected to be licensed and made available in the UK within the following financial year. We also gather information about Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) beyond this timeframe. This supports the planning, introduction and faster adoption of new medicines to NHS Wales, particularly those medicines with significant financial or service planning implications. The team use several sources to collect information about new medicines being developed on a continuous basis. This information is stored within a secure database from which the team produces confidential horizon scanning reports for use by NHS Wales. AWTTC is reliant on company engagement to progress horizon scanning work for the needs of NHS Wales. We therefore support and are fully engaged with the UK wide horizon scanning database, UK Pharmascan. It is the team's primary source of information relating to new medicines, indications and formulations that are in development and is used by all UK national horizon scanning organisations. UK Pharmascan is populated by companies on a confidential and secure platform. We encourage companies to register with and use UK Pharmascan because it is an effective and efficient way to communicate with multiple UK horizon scanning organisations. You can find out more about UK PharmaScan and register by visiting the UK Pharmascan website: https://www.ukpharmascan.org.uk/
