Allegany Franciscan Ministries is a non-profit Catholic organization that seeks to improve the overall health of individuals by increasing access to health services and building healthier communities. Allegany Franciscan Ministries grew out of the health care ministries of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, New York, and is a member of Trinity Health. It provides grants and works collaboratively with others primarily in the three regions of Florida formerly served by the Sisters' hospitals: Miami-Dade County, Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie Counties, and the Tampa Bay area of Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties. Since awarding its first grant in 1998, Allegany Franciscan Ministries has invested more than $108 million awarding almost 5,000 grants to 1,728 organizations serving those most in need in the communities it serves. Its annual grantmaking budget averages about $6 million. Allegany Franciscan Ministries' staff and volunteers collaborate with community partners and other funders to create healthier, safer, and more connected places where the most vulnerable residents can live, learn, work and play.
