Original an aviation services "Think-Tank" it soon started to commercialize, its ideas in conjunction with its associated companies. In 2001 it was decided to amalgamate all associated companies into AAAWA, providing their expertise to the industry as 'departments'. In 1999, AAAWA showed the world a whole new concept of an aviation hanger, becoming the largest hanger in the industry, capable of housing/servicing 8 Airbus A380/Boeing B747-8 and 8 Airbus A320/Boeing B737 or any other configuration simultaneously at any one given time. Although the actual Boeing B747-8 and Airbus A380 were still on the drawing boards, AAAWA's R&D came up with possible footprints of the aircraft in order to create a floorplan in the hanger. As it turned out, AAAWA's overall measures were never more than 12 cm overall regarding both aircraft. In 2000, AAAWA surprized the aviation world with its Millennium Environmental Platform (MEP)concept, whereby all services relating to de-icing, cleaning, fuelling and de-fuelling were to be performed on a special designed platform in an environment friendly way, next to being connected to a retention and recycling plant. In 2001 it showed a revised MEP, called MEP II, which included a method of de-icing, doing away with up to 100% of glycol. In 2002, due to the aftermath of 9/11 it was decided to go back to basics, being a "think-Tank" again. For more info: www.aaawa.aero
