The Allogamous Plant Breeding Laboratory is in the Department of Genetics, "Luiz de Queiroz" College of Agriculture, University of São Paulo, Brazil. We started our activities in 2013, giving continuity to the projects of Prof. Dr. José Branco Miranda Filho. The main objectives of the laboratory are:i) Training of "classical breeders" who can implement key biotechnological tools and modern statistical approaches in the development of cultivars;ii) Develop new breeding methods of allogamous plants;iii) Understand the genetics and breeding for abiotic stress conditions;iv) Develop tropical maize germplasm with higher nitrogen use efficiency.Investigations have been carried out with the support of grants provided by Fundação de Amparo a Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP - Brazil), Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq - Brazil) and Pioneer. Scholarships and Fellowships have also been granted by the same Agencies and also by the Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES-Brazil).
