The impressive Almoayyed Tower, a true landmark building, was the first real skyscraper erected in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Commissioned in 2001 the 47-story tower located within the popular Seef District was finally completed in July 2004. Developed by YK Almoayyed & Sons and measuring over 170 meters in height fit was for several years Bahrain's tallest building. A major engineering feat in itself, work on the foundations began in November 2001 with a total of 169 piles being installed to a depth of 30m followed by extensive dewatering work. The Tower foundation was of a raft foundation design which required the pouring of over 4,000m³ of concrete resulting in a slab varying from 2.5m at the edge to 5.5m at the central core. The Tower has 47 floors, consisting of 42 floors of office space and 2 floors accommodating retail units. These are serviced by six public and one service elevator. The tower is built on a footprint area of 2,025m² and has a total floor space of 48,000m². Offices are spread over floors 1 to 19 and 21 to 42. The top floor accomodates an helipad. There is space for 40 cars for VIP parking in the basement and parking facilities for a further 304 cars around the building while the adjoining multi-story car park has a capacity for 602 cars.
