Our elderly population is understimulated. Home-based caregivers and facility-based activities directors alike struggle to keep loved ones and residents sufficiently cognitively and physically active. Additionally, in light of COVID-19, this population is and could continue to be further restricted in their access to socialization and meaningful physical and cognitive engagement. That's why AltruTec is developing virtual reality and augmented reality games featuring behaviorally and psychologically beneficial non-pharmacological therapies, such as reminiscence and music therapy, the benefits of which are further enhanced by immersive technologies. These games will exercise the minds and bodies of and bring joy to the elderly, especially those with dementia and/or Parkinson's Disease, all within the safe confines of their residence. In the long term, we seek to collect and utilize relevant in-game data for potential therapeutic purposes.
