The Connection Center serves as a safe facility for the community in Zapopan to receive legal aid, educational courses (English & Computer Literacy), a sewing academy, and other programs still in development. It is also the headquarters of our mission trips, where our partners in the U.S. and Mexico join forces. In Zapopan, Ama serves an area with over 300,000 people living in extreme poverty. Areas of make-shift housing, no running water, no electricity, and a lot of disparity. We believe that in order to avoid toxic charity, we must focus on sustainability, consistency, and trackable growth in these areas. That is why we center our work around our Connection Center, which operates year round in Zapopan. Ama has served an estimated 50,000 human beings since its inception. We have begun establishing programs in the United States as well as Mexico, with a focus on vulnerable and underserved populations in the immigrant and refugee communities. Our long-term goal is that our Connection Center programs be duplicated throughout the United States, Mexico, Latin America, and the world!
