Hello, I'm Amelia—a ceramic artist who's passionate about creating meaningful objects in a disposable world. I share my story of creativity and craftsmanship through handmade ceramic vessels and sculptures.I use various ceramic techniques; mainly wheel-throwing, sculpting and hand modeling. My designs incorporate rustic and minimalist styles inspired by nature. Each piece is handmade from start to finish in my studio in Barcelona.Nature has always been my greatest teacher.My childhood adventures playing in forests and rafting rivers of Oregon had a great impact on my personal growth. I learned how to manage my fear of the unknown and overcome dangers and failure. Mastering obstacles and finding new synergies are a permanent source of motivation in my day-to-day life.Yet nature had another gift for me; the gift of clay. My work as a ceramic artist teaches me systematically to overcome disappointment and cultivate patience; allowing me to expand my personal limits. I feel present and connected while working on the potter's wheel; taking part in an artistic tradition almost as old as man. Not to mention, the infinite possibilities of creativity offered by this profession. Clay lends itself to exploration and continuous transformation, allowing me to maintain a sense of adventure and continuous learning.
