The idea of setting up an AACE Pakistan chapter has been in the works for a long time, as early as 2006. The concept was borne out of desire to link the national endocrine organization with a truly global one such as American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE). Over the years, once a critical level of membership as attained, AACE members in Pakistan decided to approach the parent organization for formation of chapter. With the support of like-minded AACE members, a steering committee was formed.Subsequently the AACE Pakistan chapter steering committee met at Flatties Hotel on March 02, 2015 and elected Dr S. Abbas Raza as the first president of AACE Pakistan chapter. Several committees were formed to streamline the activities. Future Collaboration and Joint CMEs were planned with regional AACE Chapters, Pakistan Endocrine Society and South Asian Federation of Endocrine societies (SAFES).AACE Chapter Pakistan enhance the mission of AACE by improving the ability of clinical endocrinologists in Pakistan to provide the highest quality of patient care and in nurturing educational programs that allow for a closer relationship among the members and potential members. International chapters also expand the market for AACE programs and services to help increase the visibility of AACE as an advocate for patient care issues in endocrinology, diabetes, metabolism and nutrition. Supporting the development of International AACE Chapters, in accordance with proper guidelines governed by the AACE Pakistan chapter Board of Directors and the Chapters Committee, is an extension of AACE's vision to be recognized worldwide for its clinical leadership.AACE Pakistan chapter will serve primarily an advisory organization and provide support to national and other regional professional endocrine organizations. It will provide much needed academic and foster a culture of research among the endocrine community.
