The American Association of Continuing Medical Education® (AACME) is the world's largest accreditation organization for Continuing Medical Education and Professional Development (CME&CPD), providing education & clinical, research information; advocacy for the public, patients, and members; promoting research; and recognizing excellence in continuing medical education. The mission of the AACME® is to: • Promote global excellence in public health, by defining, reviewing, and publicizing CME standards related to CME structure, process and outcome; • Measure healthcare organization's educational performance against the AACME®'s peer-set standards; • Enhance the knowledge of physicians and health care professionals through the highest level accreditation standards for continuing medical education programs (CME) that are vital for their ongoing knowledge and skills they need to provide their patients and communities with optimum care and which will assist them in understanding the disease mechanism, diagnosis, and treatments. We achieve this mission through a voluntary self-regulated system for accrediting CME providers and a peer-review process responsive to changes in medical education and the health care delivery system worldwide. Our accreditation system plays a major role in balancing dual compliance with the medical authorities' regulatory requirements and the AACME® Accreditation Standards and CME Policy Criteria, ensuring that the quality of contents of continuing medical education programs and activities meet or exceed both the national and international standards. The AACME® accreditation certificate symbolizes commitment to continuing medical education and the official recognition of excellence to the public, local community agencies, professional associations and local, regional and provincial governments.
