Public Safety - Santa Rosa, California, United States
American Red Cross helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. The local chapter, serving Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake Counties in California, responds to more than 60 local disasters per year. More than 1000 volunteers are involved in our activities, serving on local and national disasters. Volunteers provide emergency communication services and verification for members of the Armed Forces and their families. Red Cross teaches more than 50 classes locally each month. We provide safety training free of charge to the community: Vamos a Nadar (Let's Go Swimming) is designed to prevent tragic drownings, especially in the Hispanic community. CPR Saturday and Save a Life Saturday are designed to teach CPR, first aid, and other lifesaving skills. The Red Cross in Santa Rosa is also the regional headquarters for a territory that includes Napa, Humboldt, and Del Norte, as well as Sonoma, Lendocino and Lake Counties.
