Americans for Native Americans, founded in 1991, is dedicated to improving the quality of life for Native Americans on the Hopi, Navajo, and Zuni reservations by providing essential goods and programs which foster self-reliance and mutual understanding. With no staff or office to support, 96% of all donations go directly to ANA's programs.ANA has 3 main areas of focus: CHILDREN: through Food for Kids, health screenings at Navajo elementary schools, new clothing, eyeglasses, school supplies and other requested needs.NURSING: through scholarships for Native American Nursing students at the University of New Mexico-Gallup and the Expanding Horizons in Nursing program where we bring nurses from UNM-G to our area to shadow in local hospitals.VETERINARIANS: through twice-yearly veterinarian clinics on the Hopi, Navajo, and Zuni reservations, thousands of large and small animals are spayed, neutered, and inoculated. We are partnering with Biotecture Planet Earth to build a self-sustaining veterinarian clinic at Zuni.
