AMIS Atlanta promotes cultural and global understanding through friendship and hospitality with international college and graduate students and scholars in the greater Atlanta area. We connect international students with local American volunteers through our:1) Amigo Friendship program-Volunteers extend friendship to an international student or two throughout their time in America; 2) Welcome Reception- annual concert and reception held early in the school year to welcome international students and scholars;3) Monthly events- Events through the year provide international students from metro Atlanta to get to know each other as well as American volunteers;4) Thanksgiving Program- Matches students with families or individuals for a Thanksgiving meal in an American home; and 5) Christmas International House (available for international students studying anywhere in the US)- A 10 to 14 day home stay in sites around the United States over winter break.
