Amnesty International is a global movement of more than 7 million people who take injustice personally. We are campaigning for a world where human rights are enjoyed by all. The national sections of Amnesty International carry out work at a national and regional level. Amnesty International has sections set up in 70 countries.They are responsible for:- conducting their own research projects on human rights abuses in their country – this must be developed from work carried out by the International Secretariat and approved by the international executive committee - developing strategies for media work- carrying out advocacy work with the authorities in their country- campaigning/fundraising/communicating within their country or region- recruiting new supporters. The section in Switzerland was founded in 1970. With more than 5,000 members, 85,000 donators, 1800 activists among the 78 local groups throughout the country, 51 collaborators, 25 volunteers and 11 interns, it is one of the largest sections of Amnesty International.
