Non-Profit - Cincinnati, OH, US
The AMOS Project is an interfaith based community organizing institution that contends for racial and economic justice by changing laws, policies and narratives that intentionally keep everyday people oppressed. Our work shifts structures and systems by engaging our leaders in personal development, community outreach and voter engagement. In 2018 we celebrated our 20th year of building real power with real people. Some of our greatest accomplishments include: Senate Bill 5, which made discrimination against hiring individuals with felonies (or returning citizens), illegal in the state of Ohio. Partnering with community members and organizations to win Issue 44, known as Cincinnati Preschool Promise, expanding access to quality preschool to children in Cincinnati. Standing for the principles in Issue One; that individuals and families impacted by drug use don't deserve to be imprisoned, they deserve to receive treatment. We believe that empowering our people and communities changes the systems and structures in "power" for the better.
