Amplify serves individuals who have been oppressed, misunderstood, or silenced, who want to use their voice as an instrument of change. We began our programming with serving survivors of sexual assault and trafficking AND we know there are so many more communities who have been oppressed or silenced. Our vision is to expand into other communities, such as black and indigenous people of color, LGBTQ communities, and those who have been incarcerated to name a few examples. Our programming helps our speakers discover their voice, develop compelling talks focused on the triumph over adverse experiences and finally amplify their messages to the greater community to bring about more compassion and understanding. Our methodologies help to dismantle old stereotypes, labels and viewpoints that shroud groups of people in feelings of isolation, shame and fear of judgment. Through participation in safe and supportive Speaker Circles, our speakers discover transformation through being seen and heard, finding empowerment, healing and deeper connection with others. A woman named Marcella watched a series of our Amplify Talks. Afterwards, she realized she had "muted" herself after her own experience of sexual abuse as a child. In seeing the talks, she felt permission to own her experiences and felt safe enough to begin to "unmute" herself after 50 years of silence by joining one of our Speaker Circles. She is now experiencing a newfound freedom she never imagined possible and is continuing to speak out to ensure HER granddaughters, and other girls, grow up in a different world from the one she grew up in.As Amplify expands its reach, each speaker stepping forward becomes a ripple in our growing tidal wave of voices spreading compelling and positive messages in our world.
