Anarchists' Convention Inc. is the production company of Writer/Director John Sayles and Producer Maggie Renzi. Founded in 1996, the Hoboken, New Jersey based company produced Sayles' 'Men with Guns' ('97), 'Sunshine State' ('02), 'Silver City' ('04), 'Honeydripper' ('07), 'Amigo' ('11) and 'Go for Sisters' ('13).\\Prior to the company's beginning, Sayles and Renzi collaborated on some of the most celebrated independent films of 70's, 80's, and 90's including 'The Return of the Secaucus Seven' ('79), 'Brother from Another Planet' ('84), 'Matewan' (87), 'City of Hope' (91), 'Passion Fish' (92), 'The Secret of Roan Inish' ('94) and 'Lone Star' ('96). \\Twice nominated for an Academy Award® for Best Original Screenplay, John Sayles has also written novels and short stories. His most recent novel was the historical epic 'A Moment in the Sun', which was published by McSweeney's in 2011. As a screenwriter for hire, Sayles is currently working on a number of film and television projects. \\Maggie Renzi has been John Sayles' creative partner since 1978 and has produced nearly all of his films. She also produced Karyn Kusama's 'Girlfight' (‘00) and was executive producer on Alejandro Springall's 'My Mexican Shivah' (‘07). Renzi produced three music videos for Bruce Springsteen, which Sayles directed: 'Born in the USA,' 'I'm on Fire,' and 'Glory Days.'\\Sayles and Renzi have enjoyed sharing their expertise with other filmmakers through master classes at New York University, the Glasgow Film Festival and most recently, the University of Hawaii, where Sayles was named the 2014 Inouye Distinguished Chair in Democratic Ideals. \\The unusual name of the company derives from Sayles' short story 'At the Anarchists' Convention.'
