AndoCon is a geek-oriented convention that focuses on gaming, be it board, card, or role-playing. Our events will introduce attendees to all sorts of games, including many that are still under development, and it is our intent to attract game designers to demo/playtest their games at our events. The main annual convention also contains panels run by our guests on many topics, mostly pertaining to gaming and the geeky lifestyle. AndoCon's roots lie in a series of regular board gaming parties started in 2007. For two years, every few months another party would be thrown and new games would be learned. In 2009, two guests from out-of-state flew in for a two-day-long party, and it was suggested that an annual gaming event should be started. Thus, the first AndoCon was born. For the next few years, AndoCon worked to find itself, trying differing lengths and formats, and wondering whether to actually strive to become a "real" Con like the other big conventions in Atlanta (Dragon*Con, Anime Weekend Atlanta, and MomoCon, for example) or remain smaller and less formal. Finally, in 2012, it was decided that AndoCon would indeed attempt to make its place among the other Cons in the metro-Atlanta area, and the current track-based format was adopted. In July of 2013, AndoCon held its first public convention, exceeding all expectations by attracting 234 attendees over the course of the weekend. Armed with this success, the staff is preparing for an even more impressive AndoCon 2014.
