I specialise in Disaster Risk Reduction, Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Management. I believe passionately in a participatory and consultative approach because I know that the real experts on how disasters affect communities are community members themselves. In order to create, long term, sustainable and effective solutions, activities have to be rooted in an understanding of the community. This is philosophy is central to everything that I do and whether it is working with grassroots organisations or with the UN and International Organisations my focus is always on delivering a high service that meets the needs, not just of the organisation I am working for, but also of the people that we seek to assist. Key to what I do is ensuring that the impacts of both Climate Change and Disasters are addressed, reduced and mitigated. Tackling these issues together is central to my work and is key to reducing the risks of those who are most vulnerable. I train local NGOs and communities themsleves and develop strategies for larger NGOs and government in order to increase resilience to disasters and the impacts of Climate Change within Civil Society and at the grassroots, institutional and policy levels.
