"Los Angeles County is comprised of 88 cities in addition to the unincorporated areas that make up 65% of the county. With a total population of more than 10 million people, Los Angeles is the largest county in the United States and is arguably the epicenter of cannabis in the world. Angeles Emeralds is an association of patients, advocates, business owners and other thoughtful stakeholders working towards responsible cannabis regulations in Los Angeles County. As of Jan 1, 2018, Commercial cannabis is legal in California requiring both state and local licenses. On the front lines Angeles Emeralds has been advocating for responsible cannabis policy in Los Angeles County. Most recently, our co-founder was appointed to the LA County Cannabis Advisory Workgroup. This group was tasked with providing recommendations for a policy framework that will serve as a foundation for the forthcoming cannabis regulations in LA County. Angeles Emeralds advocates on many points with a particular focus on 1) Protecting our children2) Developing a Pathway to licensure for existing responsible operators3) Utilizing our most efficient energy source, the sun, to conduct outdoor cultivation in appropriately zoned areas.4) As well as Social and Health Equity With the help of many stakeholders we aim to unify our industry and our communities through outreach and education.
