AON Robotics (AON-R) is a VEX-U robotics team from the University of Puerto Rico's Department of Mechanical Engineering in the campus of Mayagüez. We participate in annual VEX Robotics Competition tournaments, regional and international, within the VEX-U category and belongs to in-campus association, CROME (College Robotics for Manufacturing Engineers).We strive to develop thorough, optimal and competitive robots in compliance with VEX Robotics requirements that also exceed the competition standards in order to effectively compete against some of the world's most renowned academic institutions whilst also conveying, promoting and partaking in STEM-oriented outreach initiatives for our youth and future generations.Additionally, and in accordance to our mission statement, we provide workshops to the community and mentor new teams in the high school and middle school categories. The vision behind the project supports the premise of providing our members a platform to develop the pertinent skills to employ within a dynamic, high- pressure work environment (f.e teamwork, idea conceptualization, product development, analytical problem solving, technical knowledge, etc.). We also seek aim to provide a platform to develop a professional and academic network so as to develop work experience and establish concrete opportunities for our members in their near future.
