Farming - Santa Fe, New Mexico, United States
The primary focus of the work that I have done in New Mexico has been in land reclamation, riparian zone restoration, aquaculture, reforestation and animal husbandry. By definition, this work demands an advanced understanding of both annual and perennial crop species, seed and cultivar selection, the interrelationships between plant species and their environment, nutrient management, structure, nutrient, and mineral content of soils, establishment of plant nurseries, land evaluation techniques, erosion control strategies, construction of earthworks, establishing orchards, designing permanent installations of food producing species and wildlife habitats, etc. We have designed, built, and operate an 1800 sq.ft., year–round solar food production greenhouse and maintain a production garden of approximately 2 acres which, together, support a CSA of approximately 20 active clients.
