The Asia Pacific Foundation for Infectious Diseases (APFID), Asia's first international foundation specifically for infectious diseases, was founded to improve the health in Asia by strengthening and coordinating national and international research-related activities on infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance in the Asia Pacific region.APFID is supporting international research activities of the 'Asian Network for Surveilance of Resistant Pathogens (ANSORP)', Asia's first collaborative research program, as well as basic research by the 'Asian Bacterial Bank (ABB)' and the 'Infectious Disease Research Institute (IDRI)'. APFID hopes to achieve its mission and vision by integrating all affilliated organizations and their activities.APFID also organizes the 'International Symposium on Antimicrobial Agents and Resistance (ISAAR)' every two years as a conference to to exchange scientific progress on infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance in the Asia Pacific region. Furthermore, 'SupuerU against superbug' campaign is an international program organized with the purpose to promote public awareness on the appropriate use of antibiotics and to control antimicrobial resistance threat in the Asia Pacific region.Through active collaboration and partnership with various institutions, organizations, industries, and academic societies, APFID hopes to contribute to the improvement of public health in the Asia Pacific region and beyond.
