Our interest in making beef jerky goes back over a decade. It started with home experimentation involving an internet recipe and a basic dehydrator."Rotten Ron's Roadkill" (RRR) jerky started appearing at canoe trips, parties, and hiking trips in 2000. As the years passed, the original soy and smoke flavored recipe was tweaked, and RRR evolved with a trend toward increased heat. Packaging and labelling were plastic bags marked "REGULAR", "XXX, and "XXXXX". As more was consumed, more interest developed. Six varieties started us off - using strips of lean USA beef and tasty brines. Appalachian Jerky is two guys, Doug and Ron, and we decided to bring the Appalachian line of Hickory Smoked, Hot & Smoky, Garlic Teriyaki, Sweet and Hot, Primal Smoke and Thermonuclear to YOU!We added a new product line at the end of October 2015. Naked Cow is a Grass Fed line of Jerky using real spices, none of that "udder" stuff. Three styles consisting of Fire, Smoke and Honey can be found in stores and on the web.
