Apsara-Arts of Asia was founded when Marvin Berk and Dennis Kord, two art collectors traveling in Indonesia, became enthralled with the beauty, quality and originality of the local indigenous textiles and artifacts.Apsara-Arts of Asia offers fine pre-WWII textiles from tribal and minority peoples from South and Southeast Asia. Most date from the 18th to the mid 20th century. Our collecting started in Indonesia, but the art itself has led us back to its roots, i.e. India and the balance of Southeast Asia. Please follow us for updates on ethnographic antiques from Bali, Borneo, Sumatra, Lampung, Sulawesi, Sumba, Timor and other Indonesian areas. Additional textiles are from Laos, Thailand, Burma as well as the Geija , Li, Maonan, Miao, Yao and Zhuang peoples. The Apsara Collection includes textiles, bead-work, architectural and temple ornaments, as well as ceremonial, ethnographic and decorative pieces.
